Wouldn’t it feel good to feel good about what you do at the office?
We think enthusiasm is priceless. When you fake it, you lose it. But when it’s real, you have to protect it. People don’t give you their best just because you happen to own the company they work for. This principle was established long ago. People give you their best because they are absolutely enthused to be part of the team. We don’t believe in a network of the owned. We believe in a network of the enthused. We’re enthused to be working together. We’re enthused about the clients we work with. We’re enthused about the things we’re working on. We’re enthused about the ideas and images that we’re putting out there. We choose to be enthused.
We’re good at what we do. We can be incredibly convincing, deeply influential. We don’t want to convince anyone to do anything bad for themselves or the world. But more than that, we know we’re a force, so we want to be a force for good.
We’re a network of people and organizations that want to feel good, very good, about the things we’re being influential about.
One day, we want our grandchildren (or grandnieces) to ask us what we did with our careers, and we don’t want to have to hold anything back. We helped make the world a better place by convincing businesses to factor climate change into their electricity buying strategies. We seduced young professionals away from the bar and into the gym. We gently guided cancer patients toward better outcomes and better lives. We helped people have more beautiful smiles, healthier bodies, and better skin. We engaged business leaders in continuing learning and development, improving their organizations in the process. We helped some women discover life beyond the bathroom and some men to grow hair where it had been and then wasn’t. We kept kids off drugs and gave parents tools to teach them. We helped introduce the personal computer to millions of families. We made is possible for people to love their cable company. We got more people covered by insurance. We helped millions of people fall in love with the Internet. We collaborated with inventors to change the world. We helped NASA keep people interested in space exploration. We convinced people to drink healthy, environmentally-friendly tap water. We’ve amused some people, made some think, lightened some up, confounded others and generally got them to stop and notice that they were alive. Some of this we did in the past, and some we’re still working on now.
Enthused is a high standard. Sometimes it’s a white knuckle ride. We’ve said “No” to business when we could least afford to. But without “no” there can be no “Yes!”
Welcome to the Network of the Enthused.
